List of Most Anticipated Games
Previous Part : 15 Most Anticipated Games (Part 1)
6th – Horizon: Forbidden West
At the PlayStation 5 launch in June, Guerrilla Games announced the sequel to Horizon Zero Dawn, Horizon: Forbidden West. Aloy’s life is getting better, but an unknown infection has appeared in the world that destroys plants and animals.
To find a remedy for the misfortune, the heroine sets out on an adventure to mysterious lands and finds out that an acquaintance from the first part of Silence, who now has his own tribe, is involved in this business.
Horizon: Forbidden West promises underwater locations and an abundance of new types of robots. Despite the release of Horizon Zero Dawn on PC, the future game will be exclusive (at least for now) for the PlayStation 5 and should be released on the PlayStation 4.
The exact release date has not yet been disclosed, but just recently Sony clarified that the game should be expected in 2021 year.
7th – GhostWire: Tokyo
Sony also talked about the timing of the release of Shinji Mikami, the creator of Resident Evil 1 and 4, called Ghostwire: Tokyo. The Japanese have promised that the project of the Tango Gameworks studio, with which Mikami works, will be released in October 2021 on PC and PS5.
At the same time, very little is known about the game. Ghostwire: Tokyo will be a first-person action game set in Japanese urban legends. The scene of the plot is Tokyo. Of the counters, combat magic with elements of melee is declared.
How all this is implemented is not yet clear, and Tango Gameworks are known for the series The Evil Within, which is far from action games. In any case, it is worth waiting for something atmospheric, which Shinji Mikami always succeeds, but for the gameplay it is still alarming.
8th – Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart
At the PS5 launch, Sony unveiled the second installment of the hit platforming game Ratchet & Clank, subtitled Rift Apart, and recently confirmed that the game will be out in 2021. The exact release date, or even an approximate month, was not announced, but it is known that it will be exclusive to the PlayStation 5.
Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart make full use of the new and fast SSD consoles – the main character instantly moves through portals between worlds and different locations, and it all looks impressive and does not allow the gameplay to sink. At least, this is the idea of the creators, but how everything will actually be, we will find out after the release.
9th – Gran Turismo 7
In 2021, Polyphony Digital is set to release a new installment in the popular Gran Turismo car simulator series. The seventh game will provide gamers with realistic physics of the behavior of cars. The main advantage of this franchise, a huge number of models, excellent graphics and many small but important details.
At the helm of Gran Turismo 7 is Kazunori Yamauchi, the game designer responsible for the previous installments of the series, long and loved by fans. So, it is clearly worth waiting for something good.
Gran Turismo 7 will be released in 2021 exclusively on the PlayStation 5. At least, only that is known now. There is no exact date, nor at least an approximate release month.
10th – Gotham Knights
In the middle of last year, Warner Bros. Entertainment has announced Gotham Knights, a third-person superhero action game set in the DC Comics universe. The game belongs to the world of Batman: Arkham, but the famous bat will not be, because Batman died in the story.
There are four main characters here at once, and they are all well-known not only to comic book fans. But also to almost any modern geek: Batgirl, Night wing, Red Hood and Robin. Each will have their own passing style, skill tree, weapons and special skills. Between the characters will be given to switch before missions.
The four superheroes will continue to defend Gotham from crime in single and multiplayer modes. Of the main antagonists, Mr. Freeze and the Court of Owls were shown, but the creators promise to add many more famous villains to them.
In addition, the developers from WB Games Montreal talk about the attention to the plot. Which will capture without co-op, and the lack of grinding. Gotham Knights will be released on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S in 2021. The exact date has not yet been announced.
11th – Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
Ninja Theory Studio announced Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II in 2019. During this time, the creators were bought by Microsoft, but we hope this did not affect the creation of the game. Perhaps only positively, adding resources to them and making them the publisher of Xbox Game Studios.
In the sequel, the main character Senua will travel to Iceland. The developers promise to significantly increase the universe and greatly tighten the graphics. The latter is clearly visible in the trailer, but it is hardly worth waiting for such a level of the picture, it is too beautiful. But it must be somewhere close.
Folk group Heilung is working on creating an additional atmosphere in the form of music, writing tracks to Old Scandinavian texts. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II will be released on PC, Xbox Series X and S. About the PlayStation 5 has not yet been announced, but perhaps the game will appear on this platform a little later.
12th – Humankind
On April 22, 2021, a new turn-based strategy game from Amplitude Studio. The authors of Endless Space and Endless Legend, is coming to PC only. The game was named Humankind and is a solid competitor to the Civilization series.
The creators have long and openly said that their projects are aimed at competing with the great franchise. Millions of sales convince success of the idea. At the same time, no one copies “Tsiva” completely, because that would be stupid.
Humankind, like the studio’s other games, has a lot of historical context and similar visuals. But there are major differences in gameplay mechanics and faction development. This is more than enough for a new successful game.
In Humankind, they promise a large-scale influence of a gamer’s actions on the world around him and himself, up to changing the avatar and opening new looks.
13th – The Lord of the Rings: Gollum
There are not so many Lord of the Rings games to skip a new non-AAA project. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum has every chance of becoming one of them. The game was published and developed by Daedalic Entertainment, the authors of the Deponia series and other similar games. It seems like not a lot, but we must give them a chance.
In the Lord of the Rings: Gollum, they promise to show in detail Gollum and his second personality Smeagol, and also reveal the positive and negative sides of the character. Due to the nature of the hero, the gameplay will be mostly stealth. Combat skills and tricks are declared for finishing and destroying opponents.
The plot of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum begins with the capture of Gollum in the tower of Sauron Barad-dur. In addition to her, many other familiar locations and heroes are promised, including Tranquil and the Nazgul.
The project is expected in 2021 on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X and S, and Xbox One. True, the exact date or approximate month of the release has not yet been reported.
14th – Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
In mid-2020, Swedish studio Fatshark, creators of Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide and Warhammer: Vermintide 2, announced a new game in the Warhammer 40,000 universe with the Darktide prefix in the title. The project will be released on PC, Xbox Series X and S. The exact date has not yet been announced.
The game should be an atmospheric and dark cooperative action shooter with four main characters and an army of critters as protagonists. The action of the plot of Warhammer 40,000: Darktide will unfold in the hive city of Tertium. Where gamers will have to destroy huge hordes of Chaos creatures of a certain heretical cult .
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide promises thoughtful close combat and a sophisticated firing system. It seems like there will be classes with a skill tree and improvements, but little details are known so far. In any case, we are waiting for some kind of Warhammer: Vermintide 2, but in space and with horror elements.
15th – STALKER 2
The chances of this are small, but in 2021 we are waiting for the release of STALKER 2. This figure is in the release date of the game. In addition, the creators from GSC Game World shared such plans. True, this is hard to believe, because so far there are no full-fledged gameplay videos, screenshots and other things, which means that the game is at an early stage of development.
At the same time, all this can be done on purpose in order to further stir up interest in the project, and in the meantime to throw crumbs of information to the fans.
There are also no plot details for STALKER 2. But in the recently released teaser of the gameplay, the stalker Skiff was shown, so it is believed that he will become the main character of the game.
STALKER 2 promises an open world with an updated version of the intelligent A-Life system. According to the developers, the Zone will live on its own without the slightest player’s intervention. In the best traditions of the series, the plot will be branched. It will be possible to reach numerous endings in different ways.
Platforms Where Stalker 2 Releasing
The long-awaited shooter is planned for PC and Xbox Series X / S, as it was announced at the presentation of the trailer, and will not be released on PS4 and Xbox One. From day one, the game will appear on Xbox Game Pass. With the release on the PlayStation 5, it is still not clear. whether it will not be at all, or STALKER 2 will be released on the new Sony console, but much later.
That’s our entire list of expectations for 2021. In part, of course, it will not come true, but I would very much like to see releases of at least the most basic games in the next 12 months, including STALKER 2, Horizon: Forbidden West, GhostWire: Tokyo and many other projects mentioned in this and the first collection.
What are you waiting for? Of course, we weren’t able to tell you about all the worthy games due out this year. So write in the comments of your expectations leaders if we missed them.
